A10 Southbound Towards A406
There's a speed camera which is one of the older gatso's, heading south on the A10 just before you reach the A406. I was driving down there recently and a police van was fast approaching me from behind. I pulled into the left lane and I was doing about 40mph. The police van overtook me just before we went past the camera and It must have been doing at least 55mph and the camera didn't flash. A useful one to remember! ;-)

Limehouse Link Speed Camera's
I've been away from blogging for sometime while I was away and sorted out some other issues. Very recently I was driving through the Limehouse Link going from East to West and I got flashed while I was doing about 37MPH. I wasn't intentionally speeding but those camera's are notorious because you suddenly go from a 40mph zone to a 30mph and the camera is right at the beginning of the tunnel. Hardly seems fair does it? Am I the only one who feels like a snail when going through the tunnel? Why on earth is the limit there only 30?
Just a warning to other drivers; remember to take extra care in the Limehouse Link. Going from West to East it's also too easy to go over the limit because you're going downhill so on the way back I nearly got flashed again.
Who knows if I'll get points and a fine, but either way it's a digital gatso so chances are very high and I've already done the speed awareness course.

M40/A40 - Digital Gatso - Northolt - Eastbound
There's a relatively new 50mph Gatso as you pass RAF northolt on the M40/A40 eastbound. I've passed it at about 55mph and it hasn't flashed. I'm sure I've been past at just under 60 at one point without it flashing but don't quote me on that one! :-)
Remember to let me know if you've passed any camera's at well above the speed limit without them flashing.

About This Blog
Hi All...
Welcome to my new blog and here's an upshot of what it's all about.
I'm a regular driver and britains roads are good but is so much that could be improved to keep them flowing more smoothly. So I'll be posting a variety of things.
1. Real Speed Camera Limits - Although a camera might be on a road that has a 50mph speed limit for example, the reality is that the camera limit, before it flashes, will be a lot higher. I want this to be a space to let people know what those real speed limits are. This isn't to help people break the law. This basically serves as an avenue so people realise they don't have to slam on the brakes when approaching the camera's
2. Bottlenecks - Bottlenecks are the bain of most drivers and I can think of a few where there will always be traffic simply because of the existence of that bottleneck. I hope we can identify how stupid these are and maybe get the roads and highyways agencies to do something about it to get traffic flowing again.
3. Traffic Lights - Traffic lights don't stay green for long enough. The slowest portion of a traffic light turning green is the beginning because cars need time to get off the brake and accelerate away. Change the light back too quickly and not enough cars have got through and you've developed a backlog of traffic that doesn't need to be there. Hopefully if we point them out maybe we can get something done about them!
4. Education - Last but not least I hope we can educate speedy drivers that driving too close is one of the main causes of jams on motorways! Keep your distance and see the road further ahead and you'll have less need to brake violently. Keeping your distance makes driving so much more relaxing and enjoyable!
That's it for now. I may include other aspects as time goes on but this is my starting point. I hope you find this blog helpful!
